Session 1: The Role of the Supervisor
1. Introduction to the Supervisor Role o Supervisors as the “first line of leadership.” o Why this role is critical in hotels: direct link to guest satisfaction. 2. Scope of Responsibility o Daily operational control (checklists, opening/closing). o Managing people: attendance, task delegation, coaching on the floor. o Managing service: ensuring SOPs, standards, guest recovery. 3. Position in the Hierarchy o Staff → Supervisor → Manager: ladder of responsibilities. o Case: Front Desk associate vs. Front Desk supervisor during overbooking.
